Nigella is used in India and the Middle East as a spice and condiment and occasionally in Europe as both a pepper substitute and a spice. Nigella is sometimes referred to as Russian Caraway, Black Caraway, Black Cumin and Wild Onion Seed. The Polish word for it is czarnuszka. Use this wonderful spice to season chutneys, vegetables or sprinkle over bread before baking.
